Motor Vehicle registrations One reason taxpayers visit town office is to register their vehicles. The Town of Milford is considered a "new registration" agent for the state. In plain English, that means we can issue license plates. There are several types of motor vehicle registrations which we can process for you. Each requires different documentation in order to complete the transaction. Reregistration Registration transfer - when you have a new vehicle and sold a vehicle whose registration has not yet expired. New registration Trailer registration If the transaction is a transfer or new registration, the person named in the registration &/or on the title must be present. In the State of Maine, excise tax is part of the cost of registering your vehicle.
